David Cats, Illusionist, was born in Venice, Italy. Traveling around the world with your incredible show must be amazing. Here are some questions for you -
Q: When did you start studying the Art of Magic?
A: I started when I was five. For me magic has always been a deep passion. I performed my first live show at age of 15 and from that moment I knew I had found my calling.
Q: I watched your show last night, what’s your favorite act?
A: That's a difficult choice. Each piece took several years to develop. I love every single part of my show...except the vanish handkerchief, that’s a nightmare. If I had to pick just one thing it would probably been the sleight of hand–it's the simplest, no big props, no mirrors, no trapdoors and it's the hardest to perform.
2 hands, 1 deck of cards and that’s it.
Q: Who or What is you inspiration?
A: I love to watch movies. Often I take ideas from movies I've seen. The movie Borat showed me that to my accent could be a comedic asset. Music also inspires me as it helps create the specific mood that I want the audience to fell.
I'm a strong believer in collaboration. In fact I have a small group of artistic friends who help me work on new ideas and story lines. Francesco Tesei is not only one of them, he is also the director of the show. He’s definitely one of the most creative mind that I've ever met!
Q: In you opinion, who is the Best Illusionist at the moment?
A: An Italian guy called David Cats..I'm kidding of course. David Copperfield is with out a doubt my favorite. I think it's safe to say that he is the Greatest Illusionist of our time. No one in Magic has done things as incredible. I also love Lance Burton. He has a much different style to Copperfield but is truly a Master of Magic.
Q: What’s the highlight of your career?
A: Career? I never really thought of it as a career! My focus is always been on creating and having fun. If this is a career I'm truly lucky! I am recognized as being the youngest magician ever to make an airplane appear on stage when I was 25. In that same show I also made a car appear–an old Fiat 500 from 1963! It's a typical Italian Car I love it and am still using the car in my current shows. And actually when I’m off stage I use the car in the real life!
